Who We Are
Our Mission Statement, “To Facilitate God’s Purpose in Every Life,” reflects our heart to value, serve and love every person in our Church family, our community, our region and beyond.
A Brief History
Narrandera CRC started in 1969 and in the early days met in East Street where the St Vincent De Paul shop now operates. In the early 80’s we leased the Plaza Theatre which was unoccupied and home to many pigeons and later leased the adjoining Criterion Hall when Telecom relocated their offices. We negotiated purchase of the Theatre and Hall in 1985 and embraced the challenge of making it home for our CRC church family and a much loved venue for the wider community.
In our 50-year history we’ve had three Senior Pastors always supported by a great team of gifted leaders. They were: Chas & Laurel Wright, Malcolm & Jill Taylor & from 1998 until now, Trevor & Sandra Murphy.
CRC PLAZA THEATRE 10AM EVERY SUNDAY
People often ask about our Sunday morning services and whether or not everyone from our community is welcome to attend. Our response is always an enthusiastic “yes” but we do understand it can be a bit daunting turning up at a location or event not knowing what to expect. So…… here’s a brief overview which we hope you will find helpful.
Our Sunday Services
We have a warm hearted group of volunteers who take delight in making you feel welcome and cared for (but not smothered) as soon as you enter the foyer of the beautiful old CRC Plaza Theatre. They’re keen to answer your questions or point you in the right direction if you need anything.
This is an important part of our Sunday gathering, where contemporary songs, with lyrics that help us express who God is…how God sees us…what Jesus has done for us…. and our response to Him…. provide the opportunity to participate in congregational singing, quiet listening, meaningful reflection or all of these. This time is led by a group of volunteer musicians
and singers who cheerfully devote time to rehearsing and serving with their musical gifts and heart for God and people. Sandra Murphy has overseen this talented and growing ministry team for many years.
We have a committed team of preachers who provide a good variety of styles in presenting truth and life principles from The Bible. We aim to make this practical, understandable and relevant to life, respecting and valuing the time given by those who come to hear, learn and grow in their understanding of God and relationship with Jesus.
Prayer & Support
At the end of the service we love to give opportunity for prayer and support for any need you may be facing including asking for God’s help in your relationships, difficult times or important decisions, as well as physical and emotional healing. One of our favourites is praying with people to begin or strengthen their relationship with Jesus. Trained leaders take time to pray with grace and respect, referring for further help where necessary.
Kids Church & Creche
Families stay together in the service for approximately 20minutes to enjoy and participate in the music and worship time. Children are then invited to play and learn with their own age group at our Kids Church (Primary age 6 to 12 years) or Crèche (2 to 5 years). Christine Sharp, supported by her husband Scott lead our enthusiastic Kids Church team whilst Nicole Guy and a faithful team of volunteer helpers make up the Crèche roster. All who serve in these teams have completed the appropriate Working with Children checks.
Another important part of our Sunday together is taking time to chat, hang out and generally encourage one another over a coffee or tea. Our Cafe is run by a great team of volunteers who help keep the Caffeine levels under control and provide a great environment for catching up after the service. All café proceeds go towards our overseas mission projects, including the Sri Lanka Children’s Homes we have supported for many years.
